Program: The Don Bosco Tech Yell, Cheer, Pep Flags and Mascot program
Mission Statement: The Don Bosco Tech Yell, Cheer, Pep Flags and Mascot Program is designed to promote school spirit, the Salesian philosophy and encourage student participation that projects a positive relationship with Don Bosco Tech and the community. Participation in the program will provide an opportunity for leadership development, communication skills and personal growth.
Eligibility: Team members must attend Don Bosco Tech or an all-girl parochial school. A minimum of a 2.5 Grade Point Average must be maintained for the entire spirit season.
Teams:
- Varsity, Junior Varsity Cheer
- Varsity/Junior Varsity Pep Flags
- Tiger Mascot
Season: 10 month program that begins in March.
Special Events: The team participates in a variety of special events both on and off-campus including performances in the following: UCLA football halftime, Los Angeles Clippers basketball, Hollywood Christmas Parade and the NFL Pro Bowl game in Hawaii.
Summer Camps:
- Team Boot Camp – One week of conditioning in April.
- Sprit Class during Summer School – Six weeks from 5:30p to 8:30p. The cost to attend is $100 per camper.
- Team captains attend a weekend at U.C. L.A. in July.
- Team members attend an overnight camp at U.C. Irvine in August.
Coaching Staff:Michelle Casanova is currently in her ninth year as head coach of the Tech spirit teams. She received her A.S. degree in Child Development from Pasadena City College. While attending P.C.C. she participated on the nationally ranked dance team. Coach Casanova then moved on to earn her B.S. from San Diego State where she cheered on the co-ed cheerleading team for two years.
