| Design is the process of creating a simple solution to a problem by applying
appropriate technical and scientific principals and then generating the
images or designs needed to develop, manufacture, or construct the final
product. We live in an age of rapidly expanding knowledge in virtually every
field. The natural desire and need to make use of this new knowledge for
mans benefit generates a continuing demand for people who understand
the process, understand the language and who are trained in the field of
Design.
Engineers, Architects, Technologists all use Design on a daily basis.
So do Interior Designers, Fashion Designers, Automotive Stylists and a
list that is almost endless. We are affected by design on a daily basis
because virtually every man-made thing we use is a product of the Design
process.
A graduate of the Design curriculum will have been exposed to those concepts
and procedures found within the Design industry that will enable him to
enter the profession, continue his studies at the university level or
perform a combination of both. Tasks and competencies students will possess
range from basic illustration (rapid visualization) to computer assisted
design (CAD).The goal for every student will be to master the ability
to illustrate the solution to problems.
Alumni become part of a highly competitive and diverse discipline which
is incorporated into virtually every field of industry today. Graduates
from Design, equipted with continuing education at the university level
enter professions such as engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design,
Graphic Design and Interior Design.
