The transportation industry is the largest, most diversified occupational field in the world today. It encompasses water, land, and air travel as well as a multitude of specific occupational requirements. With the ever-changing “Information-Age”, advanced electronics, and alternative energy sources, today’s technician must be highly skilled and is therefore in great demand. The transportation industry is the force behind society’s constant needs. Graduates in Power and Transportation face many career choices. With mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical backgrounds, engineering programs at the university level would be a natural progression. Today’s transportation industry has more demand than qualified people. Society is waiting for the kind of representation a Power and Transportation student can deliver.

The entire World! Virtually everyone on the planet either uses some form of transportation or is affected by it. Basic transportation needs to and from work or school, medical emergencies, homeland security and entertainment are just a few examples of how our lives revolve around transportation. Society, as we know it today, would not function without the transportation industry.

The Power and Transportation technology program continues to meet its goal of preparing young men as leaders in life, community, and industry. The department has maintained its focus of offering a program of studies designed to equip students with necessary knowledge and skills. In addition, the Power and Transportation technology provides an education to match two types of student goals. Students entering a four-year university program bring with them a background that includes mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic fundamentals. Students entering the workforce directly bring with them basic and advanced systems theory and troubleshooting. In addition, to their theoretical background, the Power and Transportation student is well-rounded in curricula exposure and will respond well in any learning environment.
