-
Strengthen and boldly enhance the physical facilities plant.
-
Strengthen Tech’s financial position in support of the strategic plan initiatives.
Our Goals, Explained:
Goal 1
Strengthen the governance and organizational capacity in order to better serve the community and establish Bosco Tech as an educational pillar in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
For decades, the state of California, and Los Angeles in particular, has been considered a hotbed for innovation, cutting-edge technology, economic opportunity, vibrant culture, and national leadership in independent education. With our nationally unique academic program, commitment to diverse access among several communities, and incredible alumni network, Bosco Tech belongs among the titans of independent secondary education in the region – and the nation.
Through the Strategic Plan, the Board of Trustees is committed to introspective assessment of its effectiveness as a body of leadership, and explore best ways to further the mission and vision of Bosco Tech. The organization of Tech must evolve and engage with the current landscape to provide the best possible learning environment for our students, the most welcoming home for our families, and the most appreciative place to work for our faculty and staff.
And we will…
- Strengthen the Board of Trustees by developing policies based on national best practice for recruitment, diversity, and expertise in critical areas.
- Assess critical staffing needs, identify and fill gaps, and invest in professional development.
- Attract, retain, and support the best faculty and staff in the Los Angeles area by analyzing compensation, enhancing benefits, and exploring new resources for hiring.
Goal 2
Strengthen and expand the nationally-unique Bosco Tech curriculum – ensuring relevance, meaningfulness, and real-world skills and experience that has been a cornerstone of academic rigor for nearly 70 years.
Bosco Tech remains the only fully integrated Catholic, college-prep, engineering-science-technology focused high school in the United States. The academic program, fusing traditional subjects with technology majors that include architecture and construction, biomedical sciences, computer science, integrated design, material science, and media arts, prepares students for more than just college-level study.
Routinely, Bosco Tech graduates report that in reality, their careers started at Tech. With opportunities for internship and real-world experiences intentionally melded into the curriculum, Techmen seek out and find their passions early – and relentlessly pursue engagement for career growth and networking.
The future of high school education demands that students not just learn in a classroom on a campus, but branch out into real-world situations that allow them to create and participate in meaningful projects, work in teams, and hone their networking and career-development skills. Our academic program should reflect the most beneficial and meaningful project-based curriculum with encouragement to network both virtually and in-person with a diverse group of peers and leaders.
And we will…
- Ensure that current educational offerings are relevant and meaningful.
- Relentlessly pursue necessary enhancements to technology major programs.
- Increase the number and variety of internship opportunities for students.
- Create opportunities for students to obtain credentials beyond the high school level.
Goal 3
Strengthen and boldly enhance the physical facilities plant.
In order to support the academic program, it is essential that the physical plant is in its best possible condition, offerings faculty and staff the best possible environment in which to engage and inspire their students.
Focusing on the demands of an evolving and perpetually changing world, it is vital that we assess and take account of the facilities currently offered, how we use them, and what additions or enhancements need to be made in order to position Bosco Tech as a regional and national leader in innovative and cutting edge secondary education.
And we will...
- Engage in a facilities master planning process to assess current physical structures and look forward to what will be needed on campus
- Work with the City of Rosemead to ensure any enhancements or expansion is done responsibly and with the community in mind.
- Begin work on a new, industry-leading academic center to house the traditional college preparatory subject departments.
Goal 4
Strengthen Tech’s financial position in support of the strategic plan initiatives.
Financial sustainability is vital to the ongoing success and strength of Tech. A healthy and substantial endowment, growing annual fund, and crucial support from foundations and corporate partners will continue to provide not only crucial resources to expand our mission, but to make certain Tech’s energy and ability to fund the strategic priorities outlined in this document.
We seek to take Tech beyond just the next level – to increase student access, expand curricular offerings, bolster faculty and staff compensation and benefits, and boldly improve the physical campus buildings. To achieve these goals, it will require the entire community to come together in spirit, love, and generosity, and secure the resources necessary to elevate the Tech experience – for our students, faculty, alumni, and extended Tech family.
And we will…
- Design a comprehensive capital campaign to fund the priorities as presented in the Strategic Vision.
- Embark on a thorough examination of budgeting processes and procedures to ensure continued fiscal discipline and responsibility.
- Develop and implement a forward-thinking alumni relations program that allows for the meaningful engagement between alumni and the school.
- Solidify the Tech Fund as a sustained, reliable source of consistent revenue to support the annual operational costs of the school.
- Emphasize all methods of giving to Tech, including legacy (estate) gifts, gifts of stocks and securities, and non-financial contributions.
- Increase our enrollment through a full strategic marketing and communications plan, and explore the feasibility of a move toward co-education.
- Establish parent programming, rooted in our shared faith and values, that provides support for the entire family structure.
