The Don Bosco Technical Institute is an independent Catholic school, owned and governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board focuses on ensuring the vitality of the school's Catholic identity in the Salesian Charism, the financial health of the school, and the strategic direction of the school into the future.

Martin Hairston ME '86, Chair--A business transformation and operational excellence leader, Martin Hairston is Senior Continuous Improvement Manager with KARL STORZ North America, a global leader in endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical technology. Martin has also lent his expertise to Southern California Edison and major financial institutions like Bank of America, Wells Fargo and City National Bank.
John Krakowski DR '72, Chair-Elect--John Krakowski brings 40 years of experience with Northrop Grumman as now-retired Corporate Director of Human Resources. He has provided vital oversight into administration and policy development, acquisition, disposition and restructuring activities.
Anthony Reyes ME '88, Treasurer--With more than 23 years of leadership and management experience in Internal & External Auditing, Anthony Reyes' expertise includes Financial, Operational, IT, Data Analytics, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Assessments, Audit Best Practices, Employee Management, Budget Management, Strategic Planning & SOX Compliance. He lends that expertise to his work with several respected nonprofit agencies.
Russell Wong AU '77, Secretary--Retired Senior Audit Manager for Southern California Edison, Russell Wong has directed numerous comprehensive complex risk-based operational audits and projects that have added efficiency improvements to Edison’s power grid and operations. In addition, Russell holds various Professional Certifications in Safety, Information Systems, Environmental Health & Safety, Project Management, and Risk Management.
Arnold M. Alvarez-Glasman DR '71, Past Chair--With more than 46 years of experience in public agency law, Arnold Alvarez-Glasman is a recognized authority in California’s legal community. He has built a distinguished career advising cities, school districts, municipalities, and other public agencies on a wide range of legal matters, including municipal law and education law, CEQA, real estate, land use, Brown Act, election law, FPPC, and conflict issues..

Dr. Rosemary Bernal-Gomez--Dr. Rosemary Bernal-Gomez is a seasoned Predictive Analytics Consultant with over 30 years of experience in the utilities sector. A dynamic change agent, she specializes in artificial intelligence, innovative technologies, operational analysis, and organizational change management. As the President and Founder of Women United Rise (WUR), Dr. Bernal-Gomez leads efforts to empower young girls from underserved communities to overcome barriers and thrive in STEM fields. She is Chief Advisor for the Dr. Yasmin Davidds Multicultural Women’s Executive Leadership Program and is recipient of the program's prestigious Courage in Leadership Award.
Maria Araceli Campelo--A seasoned aerospace and defense technology leader, Maria Araceli Campelo is Director of Digital Engineering for Raytheon. She has also served as the RTX Company’s Director of Space Systems Engineering, Advanced Cyber & Security and Open Architecture Radar Programs. She is also an award-winning DeVry adjunct professor of Math, Physics, and Electric Circuits.
Eddie Gallardo, CCIFP--Controller of Reyes Construction, Inc., with primary responsibility over financial and accounting operations, Eddie Gallardo has more than 24 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. Having previously served as supervising senior of the assurance group of KPMG's Downtown LA office, some of his engagements included Nestle USA, Gemstar-TV Guide, Princess Cruises and QAD.
Rev. Mike Gutierrez--A diocesan priest for more than 30 years, Fr. Mike Gutierrez is pastor of St. Louis of France Church and serves as the Chairperson of Hollywood Community Housing Corporation Board of Directors which builds affordable housing across LA county. He has been recognized by the California State Legislature and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in his nationally and internationally recognized work for social justice.
Chris Hansen MT ’98--Chris Hansen is Head of Mechanical Engineering at Radiant, a start-up with a long-term goal of making nuclear power portable and accessible anywhere. Radiant is partnered with the Department of Energy and Idaho National Labs to test a fueled prototype version. Prior to joining Radiant, Chris spent more than 18 years at SpaceX where he served the majority of his tenure as Director of Development Testing, overseeing a team of 50 engineers and technicians who tested structures and mechanisms in development by SpaceX for Falcon, Dragon, Starlink, and Starship.
Shannon McConnell--Inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals, Shannon McConnell is founder at Corners of the Globe, In-Country Coordinator at One Giant Leap Australia, STEM career development consultant, and author of On Beyond High School: Finding the Right College and Career for Your STEM Passion. She spent 30 years managing all aspects of planning and execution for the Education and Public Outreach effort for NASA's Deep Space Network.
The Honorable Jim McDonnell--Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell brings more than four decades of distinguished service to law enforcement, marked by innovation, leadership, and a deep commitment to community safety.
Msgr. John Moretta--Monsignor John Moretta recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of his ordination into the priesthood and his 25th anniversary serving as the immensely respected and beloved pastor of Resurrection Church in Boyle Heights.
Fr. Thien Nguyen, SDB--Fr. Thien Nguyen has been a member of the Salesians of Don Bosco since 1992. Deeply committed to the mission of St. John Bosco, Fr. Thien has always had a special love for working with young people. His joyful spirit and approachable presence reflect Don Bosco’s preventive system of reason, religion, and loving-kindness. He holds a strong devotion to the Blessed Mary, Help of Christians, and lives by Don Bosco’s cherished reminder: “Trust in Mary and you will see what miracles are.”
The Most Reverend Brian Nunes--Prior to studying for the priesthood, Bishop Brian Nunes worked in publishing, journalism and computer network administration. He has served the parishes of San Pedro's Mary Star of the Sea and Whittier's St. Gregory the Great. He served as Priest Secretary for Archbishop José Gomez, and then as Moderator of the Curia and Vicar General. He was ordained a bishop in 2023 and, as an Auxiliary Bishop of the LA Archdiocese, he serves the San Gabriel Pastoral Region.
Fr. Melchor Trinidad, SDB--Fr. Mel Trinidad is the Salesian Provincial of the United States Western Province. An ordained priest since 1985, he has served in a variety of province roles including director, councilor and delegrate for youth ministry.
Bro. Alphonse Vu, SDB--Brother Al Vu, SDB, has been a Salesian Brother for nearly 30 years with a passion for youth ministry and faith formation. He is currently the Program Coordinator for St. Joseph Salesian Youth Renewal Center. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Education Coordinator for the Salesian Network of Schools.

Guillermo Gutierrez AU '83, President--Bosco Tech President Memo Gutierrez has more than 30 years’ experience in teaching and high school administration. Prior to serving as Vice President, Administration and Development, he served as Vice Principal of Student Affairs at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower. From 1987 to 2004, he taught at Bosco Tech, where he served as principal from 2001 to 2004. Memo is a long-time volunteer with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and San Gabriel’s St. Anthony’s Catholic School.
Jeffrey Krynen BT '81, Principal--A seasoned instructor since the early 1980s, Jeff Krynen has uniquely taught on 'both sides of the mall,' having overseen both the ACE technology program and the Tech's science department. Now focused on school administration, his goal is to support the strongest teaching team with the most effective curriculum to best serve today's students.

Deanna Cangialosi Muckle, Parent Representative-- An experienced research attorney who has worked for the Los Angeles Superior Court for more than 25 years in the areas of criminal, civil, appellate, and family law, Deanna Muckle's personal philosophy is, “Whatever you are, be a good one,” emphasizing excellence, integrity, and doing her best in any role she takes on whether it be personal, professional, or in service to others.
Miguel Ramirez, Faculty Representative--Miguel Ramirez has a B.A. in Spanish from UC Irvine and an M.A. in Secondary Education from LMU. He has taught for 30 years and began his career in Education at St. John Bosco High School. He is in his ninth year at Bosco Tech and has been the Instructional Area Dean for Fine Arts, Theology, and World Languages since 2020. Not currently. In the past I worked with Spanish National Honor Society. Presently I'm working with a couple of students to start a rosary club on campus.
