2021-2022

Bosco Tech has embarked on an ambitious professional development plan, which focuses on the intersection of boys' learning and the Salesian Charism. Faculty retreats, guest speakers, and outside professional conferences afford Tech's faculty and staff the opportunity to grow in their profession while bringing nationally-recognized best practices to campus.

2022-2023

- In 2022-2023, Tech's faculty continues to work toward gaining 100% class recognition in the University of California A-G requirements for college admission, At the start of this process, most Technology-specific classes were independent of this designation. At the completion of this process, each and every class on campus will be recognized in the A-G standards.

-Under the guidance of a new Director of College Advising, the college admissions process at Tech as been completely revamped, welcoming new universities to campus and actively engaging university admissions offices in the uniqueness of the school and its program.

Summer 2021: 

Bosco Tech engaged HMC Architects to develop a forward-focused Facilities Master Plan, identifying priorities for physical infrastructure improvements and enhancements. Key elements include:

• A new facility for college-prep academics, that will house English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Theology, and World Languages. (Currently in design)
• A newly renovated facility for the Biomedical and Environmental Technology (BMET) program. (Currently in design)
• Major enhancements to the lobby area of the school. (Completed Summer 2022)
• Lighting for the athletic field on the north of campus.
• Major enhancements to Tech Hall.
• Resurfacing and improvement to all parking areas on campus. (Completed Summer 2022)

In 2021-2022, the Board of Trustees embarked on a self-study that implemented the following best practices for independent school boards in the United States:

• A Board assessment tool that continuously evaluates leadership development, recruitment efforts to diversify the board, and re-assesses term limitations while maintaining institutional history and organizational knowledge.
• Formulated and hosted a full board orientation process at the start of each school year.
• Made ongoing board training a priority, by a collective study of the NAIS Board Handbook and two formal board training programs per year.

Through an assessment of staffing needs having taken place in 2021-2022, the Bosco Tech administration took the following steps throughout the 2022-2023 school year to build capacity and organizational strength:

• Crafted a new hiring and retention process: diversifying the sourcing of candidates, the interview and offer process, and an earlier, more focused retention process that allows the school to assess needs proactively.
• Created and launched a formal faculty professional development program.
• Clarified faculty extracurricular requirements and responsibilities.
• Provided strategic increases in faculty and staff salaries with the goal to come in line with market competition.

In order to better manage the financial vitality of Bosco Tech, the following procedural and policy changes were implemented between April 2021 and June 2022:

• A streamlined, more focused budgeting process that allowed for Board approval of the following year's budget in March rather than June.
• Designed a comprehensive capital campaign to fund the priorities of the Strength and Spirit Strategic Plan.
• Established the Tech Fund as a reliable source of revenue for the year-to-year operational budget; grew the annual fund from $150,000 to over $350,000  for FY 2023.
• Planned and executed a strategic alumni engagement program that remains consistent in alumni outreach with a vast array of opportunities for alumni interaction with the school and follow Techmen.

In school year 2021-2022, school administration underwent an unprecedented resource allocation that allowed for major investments in the admissions, tuition assistance, and marketing elements of the school. Progress made includes:

• Placing a new Director of Admission, Associate Director of Admission, and Admission Associate to help guide families through the admission process. This represents a two-FTE-position increase in the Admission Office.
• Introduced a new admissions process that rethinks how Bosco Tech introduces families into the community.
• Placing a new Director of Tuition Assistance who works with the Admission and Counseling Offices to help families better navigate the tuition assistance process.
• Conceptualizing and implementing a newly-energized parent engagement program, that includes increased opportunities for parent socializing and learning through an annual event and speaker series.
