Student Safety Alert 2-10-16

Bosco Tech Community,

At 4:23pm, we contacted the Temple City Sherriff’s Department and they advised that the lockdown has been lifted and gave the “all clear” for school business to return to normal. Students are being released to the south gate only, as we are keeping the front of the school closed until traffic returns to normal.

The JV and Varsity basketball games have been pushed back to 6:00pm and 7:30pm, but they will be held tonight as planned. Also, the FAFSA workshop at 6:30pm in the library will go on as scheduled.

Thank you for your understanding.

The Administration of Bosco Tech

Update 3:30PM

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Bosco Tech administration has not yet received a release from the Temple City Sherriff’s department, so the current lockdown will continue. All spring sports practices are cancelled for the day, as is after school academic support sessions. Students are being looked after in their classrooms by their current teachers and available teachers have been going around, providing chaperoned bathroom breaks as needed. The basketball games scheduled for today have not been cancelled yet, but no one will be allowed onto the campus until the all clear has been given.

Once the all clear is given students will be released to the south of the school only, as described previously. Once again, thank you for understanding.

Thank you,
Mr. Krynen

Updated 2:11p.m.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At 1:50pm, the LA Sherriff’s department notified the school that the current lockdown alert will continue for at least another 1½ hours or until approximately 3:30pm. This means that the school dismissal time will be pushed back until the lockdown is released. Please avoid coming to the campus prior to 3:30pm (or whatever time is posted in a future alert) as we will not let anyone onto the campus while the alert is in place.

To be clear, the police activity that is occurring is NOT happening on our campus, but we are following their instructions for our student’s safety.

Once the release is announced, and if it is after 3:05pm, ALL students will be directed to the south lot for dismissal. Please pickup your sons ONLY from the south parking lot. We will not be opening any entrances or gates in the front of the school due to police traffic currently in that area. Please drive slowly and use extra care when picking up your sons as we expect heavier than usual traffic in the south parking lot.

Once again, an all clear message will be sent out as soon as the lockdown is lifted by the LASD. Thank you for understanding.

Thank you,
Mr. Krynen

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At approximately 1:05 pm, Bosco Tech was notified by the LA Sheriff’s Department that we were to go into a “Lockdown”, which means that all doors are secured and no one is allowed admittance to the campus. There is no immediate threat to the campus; this is simply done as a precaution because of police activity in the area.

Please do not come to the school to attempt to pick up your son as we will not open any exterior doors for anyone, regardless of relationship to the student or school.

An all clear message will be sent out as soon as the lockdown is lifted by the LASD.

Thank you,

Mr. Jimenez
